May 20 2008, 2:24 PM EDT Well I dont think that Jake deserved anything and only because they all push buttons. In the beginning of the episode Matt was messing with Jake. I just think it was long days and stress getting to them but in any matter neither one should have been throwng punches or throwng each other down but it happens. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Jun 2 2008, 11:59 PM EDT I think Jake is only really there to show off and more then likely wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the show. He see's that the Northwestern is a major hit with the show and wants to be on TV. If he was that good and saw that there was stuff going on where people didn't like him he would ask the Northwestern to give him a referal and move to another boat. 2 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 4 2008, 12:34 AM EDT I think most of the problem was the long days. this outing was really stressful to. Jake is getting alot of attention from Edgar who see's Jake is really interested in learning all he can and become a great fisherman. i think this annoys the others to a point. All and all these guys work well together and they know it. They also know fighting isn't allowed and a ticket off the boat. I don't think we will see anymore physical fighting. love the show!!! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 4 2008, 12:45 PM EDT I don't think Jake is in it for the fame. He's been on the NW even before the show became a really big hit. He wants to prove his mettle and to me, it was just unfortunate that Matt felt the need to take a swing at him. The way I see it, Jake didn't really bring him down, the Bering Sea got a few in. Call it payback for hitting that poor fish. Anywho, Jake wants a full share and he's been working extra hard to get there. He's a bit frustrated himself. The kid is most deserving. All in all, they need to just shut up and fish! lol 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

To me that is someone that is just wanting to be there for the fame that the NW has and the Matt is wanting to do his job without some kiss ass slowing them down and I agree. 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Jun 8 2008, 1:56 AM EDT I felt Jake should of kept to his own duties and stop bugging Edgar to let him do something else. I know he worked hard and impressed Edgar. I felt Matt was woried about losing his position on the boat and Jake was working hard to attain it. I am not excusing Matts violent response, some people use their fists to settle things because the don't think it out. I think it would have been better for Matt to talk to Edgar privately during a break, and this whole thing could have been avoided. :) 1 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 8 2008, 10:47 AM EDT I guess this thread is getting a little old but I gotta post again. Those guys were pretty tired, especially as Sig wasn't on the crab. The season went way longer than expected and everyone was tired. Matt does have a very serious anger issue and CHOSE to handle it the wrong way. First he punched the fish while he bitched about Edgar. Then he smacked Jake when Jake gave him a ration back. Don't get me wrong, Matt is one of my favorites to watch on this show. But I must admit that part of his appeal is very similar to the NASCAR factor. You say you like the competition but you really want to see the crashes. For the last two seasons, my family and I have had this inkling that Matt was gonna hurt or kill himself or someone on the boat. He got aweful close, especially when Jake put him down on the deck. Seems he dumped the dope. I hope he can get rid of the red faced anger. Seems like a great guy over all. Especially when he sings those dorky (but fun) old songs. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Jun 8 2008, 10:47 PM EDT I think that a lot of you guys think Matt was worried about losing his position because of what Sig had said several times during the show. If I was Matt I wouldn't have been woried about losing my position I just wouldn't want to take a couple of hours training when I had already been up for over 24 hours and the training is going to take a couple of more hours on top of the extra time. If you think about it Jake was wanting to pull up several crab pots the slowest way posible by hand and if he does a half ass job then they are stuck fixing the things he just did so fixing all of jakes stuff is just making it so they get less sleep. I would have more then likely been in the same boat as Matt. I have actually had almost the same thing happen to my unit when I was in the military and several people where wanting to kick the person keeping us up butt. I myself wanted to help but I was trying to keep off the radar because it was in Basic training and one person came in late and my unit was sent outside in a rain storm and had to do a lot of extra stuff because of this one person and that person was on everyones hit list. 3 out of 4 found this valuable. I feel Matt could use a dose of confidence in his position, and Jake could use a lesson in humility. However, it is a competitive atmosphere and the "job" will go to who does it best.
