Thanks for trying to help the bird....not many people give a crap about animals...but at least you made an effort ....I could just see Sig right now tossing it over board and holloring here sharky sharky..dinner time...lol...I take in a lot of stray and unwanted animals and get them help and find them homes and the fact that you at least made an effort makes a stand to all of us that do our best to protect and help hurt and unwanted animals 7  out of 12 found this valuable. I love the name tho! It was funny that he brought the bird in to stay warm and out of the rain... while the crew was working outside.
If I ever get a bird... that is what I am going to name is... Squawky. It is too cute.

I know,I would have done the same thing. I think he really felt bad when the bird disappeared. I can't beleive Andy wanted to toss it over.
If I ever get a bird, I'll name it John- LOL.

I agree, there aren't many folks out there who would help an ailing bird. My heart just fluttered when I saw Johnathan take Squawky inside. Not only is he a gorgeous hunk, he has a heart of gold. Does anyone know how to let him know personally how we appreciate his tender-heartedness toward other living creatures? I would love to send him an atta~boy! 5  out of 6 found this valuable. There are plenty of macho men out there who are kind to animals -- it's always a nice thing to see. My husband is like and it's one of the reasons I love him. :) Do you find this valuable?

Personally, I am going with Squawky only had a cramp...then spontaneously felt better and decided to head for Hawaii. I am sure that is what happened. Johnathan is a good bloke...and I bet Andy really wanted little Squawky to pull thru too! Do you find this valuable?

Nice of Jonathan to want to save this bird. But shame on the Discovery Channel folks for not knowing the correct identification of the lost aviator!! This looks to me like a red-necked grebe in winter plumage! It is MOST DEFINITELY NOT a "fresh water cormorant" (there is no such bird) and is not a cormorant of any kind.....but I still liked the general idea and LOVE THE SHOW!!!! Being kind to animals is a clue to someone's character. Someone who shows concern for something or someone else is awesome person in my book, and for a rough & tough guy like Captain John to show that side of himself shows his confidence in himself. Don't change a thing Captain John & have fun in Sweden.

I absolutely agree that you can tell a lot about someones character by their treatment of animals. Jonathan is awesome and he is very confident to show the caring side of himself on a show that shows strong and silently suffering "men" for the most part. He is very cool!!

I feel the same way...I was really touched to see him take the bird inside, and even brought him to the solitude of his cabin so he could rest. It was SQUAWKY's lucky day to find John's boat, else he might have been too pooped to complete his trip. You have a beautiful heart, John. :) 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
